U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT LISTS NAHC CLIENT FACILITIES AMONG “AMERICA’S BEST NURSING HOMES”

U.S. News and World Report Magazine which hit news stands in February 2010 with the cover “How to Live to 100” brought to light “America’s Best Nursing Homes.” After a careful study of the government’s rating of nursing homes, U.S. News and World Report published their findings in the magazine copy and on their website (see http://health.usnews.com/health/best-nursing-homes). Nine North American Health Care client facilities were listed.

The listing is based upon the facility’s Medicare rating on survey, staffing and quality measures. It is expected that U.S. News and World Report will periodically update the list. If so, more than 20 NAHC client facilities will be honored by mid-2010 due to their current Medicare ratings.

MEDICARE AWARDS 22 NAHCI AFFILIATED FACILITIES WITH THEIR HIGHEST RATING

As of May 2010, Medicare awarded 22 NAHC client facilities with their highest honor – a 5-star rating. Less than 5% of all skilled nursing facilities in the United States will achieve this level of success. Medicare carefully studies each facility through an annual federal survey, review of quality measures, and assessment of staffing levels. Results of these studies for the past three years are included in every facility’s current assessment. This means that a 5-star rating can only be awarded through a long-term commitment to excellence.

Another 7 NAHCI affiliated facilities have a 4-star ratings. In all, 84% of all NAHC client facilities have either a 4 or 5-star rating.

ORCHARD PARK REHABILITATION CENTER RATED NUMBER 1 FACILITY IN UTAH COUNTY

Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center located in Orem, Utah, has been awarded a 5-star rating from Medicare (see www.Medicare.gov). This gives Orchard Park the highest rating in Utah County. This year, U.S. News and World Report rated Orchard Park the number 6 facility in the entire State of Utah (see http://health.usnews.com/health/best-nursing-homes) in their study of America’s Best Nursing Homes. Orchard Park has also been recognized by the Consumer Business Review as “Facility of the Year” in 2009 and 2010.

Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare is an 89-bed skilled nursing facility specializing in post-hospital rehabilitation of medical and surgical patients. The average length of stay is 7-45 days with most insurance plans (including Medicare) being accepted. Orchard Park offers intensive therapy services allowing patients to return home more quickly.

High quality medical care and a caring staff have allowed Orchard Park to reach this level of success. The care is provided by community physicians and surgeons along with a 24-hour nursing staff and team of 15 rehabilitation therapists.

The facility completed a full remodel in December of 2009. In February, “The Spa at Orchard Park” was opened within the facility and offers massage therapy, manicures, pedicures, and facials to the patients performed by licensed estheticians and massage therapists.

SCOTTSDALE NURSING FACILITY RECEIVES ITS SEVENTH ANNUAL AWARD FOR PERFECT FOOD SERVICE

The State of Arizona has awarded Scottsdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center its 7th consecutive “Perfect Food Service” award. This honor demonstrates the facility’s commitment to quality customer service. Hospital meals have traditionally been known to be less than appetizing. However, patients who have had a recent surgery or hospitalization for a medical condition need adequate nutrition to recover. Quality choices and the great taste of the food at Scottsdale Nursing and Rehabilitation assure that everyone is pleased.
